Khartoum: Rhino – A number of civilians were killed and others wounded in the city of Um Dukhun near the border with Chad and Central Africa, following an airstrike carried out by an army drone, according to medical sources and witnesses from the area who spoke to the press.
The Darfur 24 news website quoted a medical source at Um Dukhun Hospital as saying that the attack killed a family of six, in addition to more than 10 people whose identities could not be determined because their bodies were charred. He explained that dozens of wounded were transported to Nyala for treatment.
About 700 civilians have been killed since last January as a result of similar strikes, according to Tom Fletcher, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs.
