Statement on the Third Anniversary of the April 15 War
On the third anniversary of the April 15 War, our country enters its fourth year in the midst of a devastating war ignited by the terrorist Islamic Movement and its army, in a desperate attempt to crush the will of the Sudanese people, abort their glorious revolution, and restore the regime of oppression and tyranny against which our people rose up and sacrificed to overthrow.
It is a war that has brought Sudan nothing but ruin, destruction, and tragedy, and its catastrophic effects continue to worsen day by day, as the forces that ignited it persist in pursuing a path of systematic destruction, rejecting any serious path leading to a just and comprehensive solution, and pushing the country toward the abyss of total collapse.
This war, ignited by the enemies of the revolution and the Port Sudan coup gang, has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent people and caused the displacement, flight, and exile of millions of our people, in addition to the widespread destruction that has afflicted cities, villages, infrastructure, state institutions, and the basic necessities of life.
Not content with all this devastation, the parties that ignited the war continue to pursue policies aimed at tearing apart the national fabric, stirring up strife among the components of the Sudanese people, and fueling hate speech and division, as part of an overt scheme that seeks nothing but to divide the homeland, prolonging the war, deepening the suffering of citizens, and imposing a new political reality by force at the expense of the Sudanese people’s aspirations for freedom, peace, and justice.
The sincere alignment of the Rapid Support Forces with the demands of the glorious December revolutionaries marked a turning point in Sudan’s modern history and played a decisive role in bringing down the defunct Salvation regime. Since that time, our forces, with unwavering resolve and a clear stance, have remained an impenetrable bulwark against attempts by the Islamic Movement and the Muslim Brotherhood to return to power, despite all the conspiracies hatched, the lies spun, and the efforts made to drive a wedge between our forces and the revolutionary street and the true forces of change.
This painful anniversary comes as our people continue to wage their fateful battle against injustice and tyranny, clinging to their legitimate right to freedom, peace, and justice, and believing that the immense sacrifices made by the Sudanese people will not be in vain, and that the project of despotism, no matter how arrogant it becomes or how its tools are renewed, is doomed to perish. This anniversary also comes as our forces are waging a war of self-defense against a dark, authoritarian project that seeks to return Sudan to the grip of corruption, arrogance, and exclusion, and aims to dismantle the gains of the revolution and deprive Sudanese of their right to build a new, just, and balanced state.
We, the Rapid Support Forces, as we reflect on this occasion on the deep wounds left by the war, affirm that our national and moral responsibility compels us to remain fully committed to the cause of our oppressed peoples, and to uphold the choice of ending this war and all Sudanese wars on new foundations that address the historical roots of the crisis, not merely its symptoms.
Sudan will not rise by recycling failure, nor by compromising with the forces that ignited the war and obstructed the democratic transition. Rather, it will rise through a new national project based on justice and equality, the recognition of diversity, the end of marginalization, the dismantling of the structure of tyranny, and the building of a democratic civil state that accommodates all its sons and daughters without discrimination or exclusion.
On this anniversary, we also call upon the living forces of the revolution and all sincere national forces to re-examine the Sudanese landscape with deep awareness and historical responsibility, and to be vigilant against the ongoing conspiracies aimed at aborting the project of change, derailing the march of change, and re-empowering the forces of regression and authoritarianism. National unity around the new founding project and the goals of the revolution is today a national necessity that cannot be postponed; it requires moving beyond narrow calculations and committing fully to the future of Sudan and its people.
We assure our great people—in cities and villages, in displacement and refugee camps, and in every place where they are suffering under the weight of this tragedy—that we are moving forward with unwavering determination to put an end to the wars in our country, lift the injustice from it, end its suffering, and work with all sincere forces to build a new Sudan, a Sudan of justice, freedom, and equal citizenship; a Sudan of sustainable peace where human dignity is upheld, rights are respected, injustices are redressed, and the horizon is opened for all to participate fairly in power, wealth, and the shaping of the future.
The war ignited by the forces of reaction and the enemies of change will not break our will, will not turn back the clock, and will not succeed in erasing the memory of the revolution or obscuring the aspirations of the Sudanese people. Rather, the sacrifices of the sons and daughters of our peoples will remain the fuel for the march of national liberation, and the will of free Sudanese will remain stronger than all schemes of oppression and domination, until complete victory is achieved for the will of the Sudanese peoples yearning for freedom, social justice, and comprehensive peace.
Mercy and forgiveness for our noble martyrs A speedy recovery for the wounded and injured
