Khartoum: Rhino – The Emergency Lawyers Group welcomed the announcement of the Berlin Conference on Sudan and commended this move, considering the international action a genuine response to the scale of the tragedy facing the Sudanese people. In a statement, the group emphasized that the top priority at this stage must be an urgent response to the unprecedented humanitarian crisis, by ensuring unimpeded access to aid for all those affected and securing basic needs such as food, medicine, and shelter, while providing full and effective protection for humanitarian workers and organizations.

The statement highlighted the need to ensure the neutrality and safety of humanitarian corridors and to refrain from using, politicizing, or obstructing them in any way, while paying special attention to the most vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly, as well as the critical conditions of internally displaced persons in camps and displacement sites, and refugees in refugee camps in neighboring countries and the escalating humanitarian challenges they face.
