Hemidati: Designating Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization is a victory for Sudanese people

Khartoum: Rhino – The head of the Presidential Council of the Government of Peace and Unity, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, welcomed the decision by the US State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan as a terrorist organization. He noted that the decision represents a victory for the will of the Sudanese people and their aspirations for peace, stability, democracy, and sustainable development.

Daglo added in a post on Truth Social today: “This decision represents a fundamental step toward drying up the sources of extremism and terrorism and stopping the activities and practices that have destabilized—and continue to destabilize—Sudan and have directly contributed to undermining state institutions and spreading chaos, which has had a negative impact on Sudan’s regional and international environment. This decision also confirms that the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan poses a serious threat to international security and peace.”

He continued: “The inclusion of the Muslim Brotherhood on terrorism lists represents recognition of the serious violations and crimes committed by this group and its various fronts, including the ideological ‘army’, against civilians throughout the country for decades, particularly during the April 15 war ignited by this group, in which it used internationally banned weapons, including chemical weapons and barrel bombs, against civilians.”

He added: “The isolation of extremist ideological currents that use violence as a means to gain power is an indispensable condition for reestablishing Sudan on new and just foundations and building a state of law and equal citizenship, which the government of peace is working to consolidate. as stipulated in the 2025 Transitional Constitution and the Sudan Alliance Founding Charter. This decision also confirms the correctness of the approach we took when we issued the Terrorism Act, under which we banned the Islamic Movement as an organization that threatens national and international peace and security).

Daglo concluded his post by saying: “In this context, we emphasize the importance of coordination and cooperation with the international community to pursue the financial and organizational networks of this group, in order to ensure that international platforms are not exploited to threaten regional security and destabilize Sudan’s regional neighborhood.”
