Khartoum: Rhino – The Sudanese Human Rights Observatory said on Sunday that members of the Sudanese armed forces continue to carry out a campaign of arbitrary arrests. It pointed out that, as part of its systematic use of violence, it resorts to arresting civilians from certain tribes as a weapon to intimidate local communities.

The Observatory added in a press statement today: “These arrests are not limited to security reasons but also have retaliatory dimensions. Reports of enforced disappearances and torture in detention centers have increased, where detainees are deprived of the most basic legal rights.
