Lawyers have revealed the conviction of two girls, both aged 15, who were arrested in the city of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, on charges of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces and were held in El Obeid National Prison during their trial.

Lawyer and human rights defender Othman Saleh, said that the two girls, A.A.A. and N.A.H., in El Obeid were convicted on February 26, 2026, under Article 51/A of the 1991 Criminal Code, and the Family and Child Court sentenced them to three years in a social care home.

He added that they were handed over to the Family and Child Unit in El Obeid on February 26, 2026, and placed in the custody of the Family and Child Unit. The custody is very strict and cannot accommodate the detainees. He pointed out that the two girls spend the whole day in custody and are only allowed out twice a day to use the bathroom, early in the morning and in the evening.

He noted that there is no food in the Family and Child Unit, and that one of their relatives gave them 5,000 pounds for food when they arrived at the unit. Now they have no money and are waiting for someone to give them food.

Saleh emphasized that the situation in the detention center is uncomfortable for them, and they are now demanding to be returned to prison. They are crying and screaming, and they are in a poor psychological state due to the bullying and verbal abuse they hear, such as that those who support the Rapid Support Forces deserve the worst treatment, and that the judge gave them a lenient sentence, which has put them in a poor psychological state.

Saleh stressed the need to protect children from bullying and verbal and physical abuse, and to provide for their needs in terms of food, medical treatment, and education while they are undergoing judicial proceedings.
