Rhino: Agencies – The Conflict Zone news platform has refuted a report by Reuters news agency that Ethiopia is hosting a training camp for Rapid Support Forces, noting that Reuters based its findings largely on satellite images showing groups of tents, which it described as a military training camp.

The platform suggested that these sites are most likely gold mining camps currently under construction by the Ethiopian government, noting that the images of the sites and structures provided by Reuters as evidence of the existence of a Rapid Support Forces training camp match the images published by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office several months ago to document the start of gold mining projects in the region.”
