Rhino: Follow-up – The Sudan Founding Coalition condemned what it described as the deliberate targeting of the livestock market in the Sudanese capital, Nyala, by a drone launched from the Egyptian military base located east of Al-Awainat, resulting in 30 deaths and 43 injuries among civilians, according to a preliminary casualty count.
In a statement, the coalition described the attack as “an attempt to divert attention from the heinous crime committed by the Egyptian Air Force in the Al-Aqidat area and northern Al-Wadi” and “a continuation of Egypt’s blatant military interference in Sudanese affairs”.
According to preliminary information, the bombing targeted the market today, Friday, at a time when it was crowded with citizens, turning it into a scene of destruction and bloodshed. Field reports have documented the deaths of large numbers of civilians, including women and children, and injuries of varying severity among others, in addition to the complete destruction of commercial stores.
The statement read: (Targeting popular markets and densely populated areas constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a full-fledged war crime that places the lives of civilians directly in the line of fire).
It continued: (The Sudan Founding Alliance holds the army of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood movement and its supporters fully legally and morally responsible for this massacre. It calls on the international community, including the Security Council and human rights organizations, to intervene urgently to stop these repeated violations and to take immediate steps to protect civilians, and to conduct an independent and transparent investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice).
