Rhino: Agencies – The head of the Civil Democratic Forces Alliance (Sumoud), Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, met today, Tuesday, in the British capital London, with British Minister for International Development Baroness Jenny Chapman and Norwegian State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andreas Kravik.
Hamdok discussed with the British and Norwegian officials the efforts being made to stop the war in Sudan, stressing the importance of implementing an urgent humanitarian truce that would allow aid to reach those affected in various parts of the country, given the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the continuing fighting.
Hamdok’s visit to London is part of a European tour by a delegation from the Sumoud Alliance, which included France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Britain, and which concludes on Tuesday. The tour aims to rally international support for the Quartet’s proposal as the most serious path to imposing a comprehensive peaceful settlement that ends the war and leads to full civilian rule in Sudan, as well as intensifying international pressure to stop the fighting and impose an urgent humanitarian truce.
Sumoud alliance noted that these demands enjoy broad international support and clear consensus from the Quartet countries, which include the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
