Sumoud Alliance meets with Director General of African Affairs at French Foreign Ministry in Paris

Khartoum: Raino – The head of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud), Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, and his accompanying delegation met with the Director General of African Affairs at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of officials responsible for the Horn of Africa and Sudan, at the start of a visit to the French capital Paris on Tuesday.

According to a press statement published by the coalition on Facebook, the meeting addressed the devastating war in Sudan and its catastrophic humanitarian impact on the Sudanese people, as well as the grave violations committed by both sides of the war.

The meeting also discussed the need for the international community to play an active role in bringing about an immediate end to the war, in order to prevent the disintegration of Sudan and preserve its unity as a state, and in anticipation of the risks posed by the continuation of the conflict, including Sudan becoming a hotbed of terrorism that threatens regional and international security and peace.

The delegation presented a comprehensive explanation of Sumud’s vision for addressing the Sudanese crisis, which is based on declaring an urgent humanitarian truce without preconditions, allowing for the delivery of humanitarian aid and paving the way for the launch of a comprehensive political process that excludes only the terrorist Islamic movement and its banners.

The delegation stressed the need for accountability for serious violations, including war crimes and crimes against humanity, serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights law, as well as the importance of ending external support that prolongs the war and deepens the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Last Monday, the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud) announced that a delegation of its leaders, led by the alliance’s president, Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, the head of Sumoud’s Foreign Relations Committee, A. Babiker Faisal, Dr. Bakri Al-Jak, the official spokesperson for the coalition, and a number of coalition leaders, would begin a tour of several European countries starting yesterday, Tuesday.
