Khartoum: Rhino – A drone belonging to the Sudanese army targeted Kabkabiya in North Darfur State on Friday, resulting in civilian casualties, according to local sources from the town who spoke to the press on Saturday.
The sources revealed that there were deaths and injuries among civilians as a result of the intense aerial bombardment that struck the main market in Kabkabiya on Friday.
Last week, the Sudanese army targeted the Al-Hamidiya camp for displaced persons in the city of Zalingei in Central Darfur state, killing nine civilians and wounding more than 15, some of whom are in critical condition.
Sudanese popular, political, and civil society groups condemned the incident, describing it as “a continuation of the massacres the Sudanese army has been committing against unarmed civilians in Darfur and Kordofan.”
Human rights figures and activists called for international investigations into what they described as deliberate massacres against civilians in western Sudanese states, demanding independent inquiries that would lead to holding those responsible accountable before international justice.
