Khartoum: Rhino – The Port Sudan Foreign Ministry accused the Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, Musad Pauls, of making statements that “misled local and international public opinion and undermined efforts to achieve peace and stability in the country,” referring to Pauls’ condemnation of the army’s drone strike on Al-Da’ein Hospital, which killed approximately 64 civilians, wounded dozens, and destroyed the emergency department.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the U.S. adviser’s remarks “seriously undermined the chances of ending the war and achieving peace and stability in Sudan,” and accused him of “clear bias against the Sudanese Armed Forces.”
Masad Pauls, the U.S. President’s Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, had said that the airstrike carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces on the Al-Da’ein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur State, which killed at least 64 people and injured nearly 100 others, was a horrific act.
Paul added in a post on the X platform: “This vital hospital is now rendered inoperable, depriving innocent civilians of life-saving medical care. Since April 2023, more than 2,000 people have been killed in over 200 attacks on medical facilities—facilities that should never be targeted. The violence must stop on both sides; they must agree to a humanitarian ceasefire to end the suffering of the Sudanese people and allow the wounded to recover in peace and safety”.
