Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs Musad Paules
Khartoum: Rhino – Musad Pauls, the U.S. President’s Advisor on Arab and African Affairs, said that his meeting with Pika Havisto, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Sudan, was very productive, emphasizing that the UN Security Council will be put to the test on Friday to determine the course of the Sudanese crisis.
In a tweet on X, Pauls explained that the two sides discussed urgent steps to stop the bloodshed and pave the way for lasting peace and civilian rule, stressing that moving forward with a comprehensive political dialogue led by Sudanese civilians has become crucial to saving the country from a conflict he described as horrific.
Paul revealed that they will address the Security Council at a special session on Friday, calling on the international community to provide immediate support for an urgent humanitarian ceasefire to stop the loss of civilian lives, to move swiftly toward a permanent ceasefire that ends the cycle of fighting, and to launch a civilian transition process that puts Sudanese people in charge of their own future.
Paul stressed the need to ensure unimpeded access for UN and humanitarian aid, warning that any obstacles to relief efforts would exacerbate the humanitarian disaster ravaging Sudan.
