Rhino: Agencies – Trade resumed yesterday, Monday, at the Adré border crossing in Chad, near the Sudanese border, after more than ten days of closure.
Chadian authorities allowed the resumption of goods transit on Monday morning, gradually restoring commercial activity between the cities of Adré and El Geneina, according to sources speaking to the press.
The sources indicated that the official authorities in the Chadian city of Adré and the Sudanese city of Asanga agreed to organize and facilitate commercial traffic, as well as to prevent smuggling and cross-border crimes to ensure stable trade between the two sides.
The Adré crossing is located about 28 kilometers from the city of El Geneina in West Darfur state and is considered the main commercial crossing through which food and commercial goods reach the Darfur states from neighboring countries.
The closure of the crossing in recent days has led to a significant increase in commodity prices in Darfur’s markets due to the halt in the movement of goods coming from Chad.
