Al-Taishi: Al-Burhan has given Islamists more than Bashir did, and he is a confused man with no personality

Khartoum: Rhino – Prime Minister of the Peace Government Mohamed Hassan Al-Taishi said that Sudanese Army Commander Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan is caught in a double social and ideological alliance, noting that he “benefited from the Islamists’ infiltration of the army.” In an interview on the Sudan 360 podcast broadcast on Monday, he added: “Al-Burhan is a confused man with no personality. He is the general who has served the Islamists the most since the revolution, giving them more than Bashir himself did. He is the most suitable person for the Islamists at this stage.”

Al-Taishi asserted that the Islamists ignited the war on April 15 when they sensed that the political framework agreement would cause them to lose their two most important institutions: the army and the civil service, noting that the coup of October 25, 2021, came to block the path to democratic transition, and that the coup was a death sentence for the democratic movement and revenge against Hamidti himself. He added, “The coup was the work of the Islamists.”

Al-Taishi said that General Yasser Al-Ata is the most important person serving the social alliance within the army. He added: “Al-Ata is not a naive man; in terms of heritage, he is the son of the army, and he understands better than anyone the importance and role of the army in protecting the 1956 state. He believes that the war now is the last battle of the old state and its institutions,” and he does not mind using chemical weapons or allying with the devil in order to defend his institution.

He continued: “The Islamists are preparing for their next battle with the international community, and Al-Burhan will soon face an inevitable confrontation with them, in light of the international and regional trend towards ending the war, showing that they are the ones who have thwarted all peace initiatives for the sake of the war trade and gold smuggling.”  disrupting the Jeddah platform and undermining the Manama agreement in a single week.

He added: “The Islamists’ interests are economic, political, ideological, and security-related at the regional level. Since the coup, the political agenda has not taken precedence over the military agenda, and even weak attempts at dialogue have failed. As for Kamel Idris, he can be described as a pawn used by the Islamists.”

During the meeting, the Prime Minister of the Government of Peace and Unity said: “The democratic forces wasted the opportunity to form an alliance with Hamidti,” explaining: “If the democratic forces had won Hamidti over during the transitional period, the confrontation would have been different, but missing this opportunity led Hamidti to participate in the coup and then back down later, after realizing the Islamists’ trap, and he began to change his position and led the efforts to bring back Hamdok and the framework agreement.”

He added: “The truth is that the army is a group of Islamist military personnel who were recruited and promoted through the ranks during their years in power, and the distortion within the army leads us to believe that Sudan is not a real state.”
