The Council of Zayadiya tribe condemns the army’s massacre of civilians in Al-Kuma, North Darfur

Al-Kuma: Rhino – The Council of Elders of the Zayadiya tribe condemned on Sunday the killing of 20 civilians from the tribe on Saturday morning in the city of Al-Kuma, North Darfur, including women, children, and elders, after they were targeted by an army drone, while others were seriously injured.

The council added in a statement on Sunday: “The council condemns in the strongest terms this heinous terrorist crime and denounces the continued targeting of the city of Al-Kuma with warplanes and chemical weapons since the outbreak of the war, in a systematic approach that reflects contempt for civilian lives and a flagrant violation of all human values and norms.”

The Council of Elders emphasized that what happened today is not an isolated incident, adding: “Rather, it is part of a series of crimes carried out by the Sudanese army, which confirms every day that it is a tool in the hands of the terrorist and racist Islamic movement, through which it practices repressive policies and directly targets local communities on tribal and racial grounds, in an attempt to dismantle Sudan’s social fabric and strike at its historical components.”

The statement said: “The Council considers this treacherous bombing a direct attack on the Zayadi tribe and its social and human fabric, and a complete crime against humanity, and holds the army leadership and the Islamic movement fully responsible for it and for previous violations against civilians in North Darfur.”

The Council called on the Sudanese Founding Alliance, the President of its Presidential Council, the Prime Minister, and all its members to shoulder their moral, national, and humanitarian responsibilities, to take a firm stand against this disaster, and to take a clear and courageous stance in defending and protecting civilians from repeated bombing and attacks.

It appealed to regional and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to document this crime, hold its perpetrators accountable, and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those affected.
