Statement from Sudanese tribes bordering Central Africa on Wagner mercenary attacks on Um Dafoog

Statement of condemnation

We, the communities and tribes of the border regions between Sudan and the Central African Republic, strongly condemn and denounce the criminal attacks carried out by Wagner mercenaries on our land and against our people, which resulted in the death and injury of a large number of innocent citizens in Al-Bashma area of the Um Dafoog border region.

These systematic acts of brutality carried out by the Wagner Group, which is based in the Central African Republic, were coordinated, supervised, and fully funded by the military intelligence and intelligence services of the illegitimate Port Sudan authority, which is working to stir up strife and drag the entire region into a devastating conflict.

These attacks represent a clear plan aimed at destabilizing the region and fueling bloody conflicts, threatening the security and social peace that our communities have enjoyed for centuries. We reject these criminal acts, which aim to exploit our resources, stir up strife among our social components, and fuel conflicts in service of the agenda of the Port Sudan regime, which knows only the language of bloodshed.

We affirm that Wagner’s presence does not only threaten the security and stability of the Central African Republic alone, but its terrorist activities extend to destabilizing the entire region, which negatively affects international security and peace.

We call on His Excellency Faustin Archange Touadéra, President of the sisterly Central African Republic, to intervene urgently to stop these actions originating from within his country’s borders, expel the rogue Wagner Group, and remove the terrorist Port Sudan intelligence services in order to preserve ties.

“We call on the international community, with its organizations and bodies, to take urgent action and put pressure on those who support this group to put an end to its criminal activities in Central Africa, Sudan, and the region.

We also call on the Government of Peace and Unity and the national forces to assume their full responsibilities in protecting the borders and national sovereignty, and to prosecute anyone who cooperates with these terrorist elements, whatever their names may be.

We affirm that the people of the border tribes will stand united against anyone who attempts to undermine the security and stability of their communities and will resist these attacks with all their might.
