Saudi Foreign Ministry: Extremist groups linked to the Muslim Brotherhood will not determine Sudan’s future

Khartoum: Rhino – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has affirmed that the future of Sudan must be decided by the Sudanese people alone, stressing that violent extremist groups linked to the Muslim Brotherhood cannot play a role in determining the fate of the Sudanese people, according to a statement issued by the ministry on Saturday.

The statement said: “The future of Sudan cannot be dictated by violent extremist groups that belong to or are documented as being linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, whose destabilizing influence has fueled violence and instability throughout the region.”

The Saudi Foreign Ministry affirmed that Riyadh will continue to support all initiatives aimed at ending the war in Sudan and launching a comprehensive political process led by the Sudanese themselves, away from foreign interference and extremist agendas.

The statement stressed that the solution in Sudan must be based on preserving the country’s unity and sovereignty, protecting its national institutions, ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those affected, and achieving security and stability, paving the way for a safe and sustainable political transition.

The Saudi position comes amid a series of international and regional positions supporting the “Quartet” initiative, which includes Egypt, the UAE, and the US, and which recently called for a ceasefire and the start of a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue paving the way for a civilian transition.
