Khartoum Governor in the Government of Peace and Unity, Fares al-Nour
Nyala: Rhino – The governor of Khartoum in the Government of Peace and Unity, fares al-Nour, declared a state of health emergency in the capital “as of yesterday, Sunday, until further notice.” “To ensure the mobilization of resources and coordination of efforts to face the imminent danger,” he said.
Al-Nour called on the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Committee of the Red Cross, and all humanitarian and relief organizations to intervene immediately by sending specialized medical teams, field hospitals, essential medicines, and health supplies to combat epidemics and stop their spread.
In a press statement on Sunday, the governor of Khartoum said that the decision was based on their constitutional and humanitarian responsibility towards the citizens of Khartoum state, and in view of the increasing reports of outbreaks of epidemics and dangerous diseases, especially dengue fever, which threatens the lives of millions, with the almost complete collapse of local health capacities.
He appealed to the United Nations and the international community to provide urgent financial, logistical, and technical support to prevent a large-scale humanitarian disaster. He called on organizations to monitor the distribution of medicines and vaccines to ensure that they reach eligible citizens and to block corruption and monopoly networks.”
