El Obeid: Rhino – Informed sources in the city of El Obeid have warned that the Sudanese army is secretly transporting an arsenal of chemical weapons to the city, with the participation of foreign experts. Amid fears that the army intends to use them against civilians and repeat the crimes committed in Khartoum and Darfur, the sources described the move as a flagrant violation of international law.
Last June, the army used chemical weapons in bombing the town of Al-Kuma in North Darfur, which was evident in the change in the smell and color of drinking water. A medical source at Al-Kuma Hospital reported an increase in miscarriages among pregnant women to 150 cases last month and swelling in the bodies of some citizens.
A video circulated last May showing army soldiers wearing gas masks and using unfamiliar shells in the capital Khartoum and areas in North Darfur.
