UN: Rhino – Escalating violence in the Kordofan and Darfur regions is destroying civilian lives and increasing needs amid limited humanitarian access, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Thursday.

In a press release on Thursday, OCHA noted that pooled humanitarian funds have boosted the cholera response across Sudan, helping to reduce cases in hotspots: “But more funding is needed to sustain the progress made.”

“Various states across Sudan have started to feel the effects of the heavy rains, with needs exacerbated by flooding and displacement during the dry season,” he added.
