Clashes between army and pro-army militias in Kadugli, South Kordofan

Rhino: Agencies – Large popular protests erupted in the city of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan state, on Tuesday, against the backdrop of the suffocating food crisis that the city’s residents are living through, due to the monopolization of goods by the security services and their seizure of relief, depriving citizens of it.

The protesters chanted slogans denouncing the high prices and the monopolization of goods by the security services, and a number of citizens stormed a warehouse used by the intelligence services to store maize received as relief for the city’s war-affected citizens, and prevented its distribution to them.

Eyewitnesses from Kadugli said in press statements that a military force that was present in the market opened fire on the protesters, causing many injuries.

The situation in Kadugli is threatening to explode after the intervention of the Kafi al-Tayyar and al-Matawa militias – which were fighting alongside the army – in the conflict, as the city is currently witnessing military clashes between the security services on one side and the Kafi al-Tayyar and al-Matawa militias on the other.
