Port Sudan: Rhino – The Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced on Sunday that the voice and video communication service via WhatsApp will be restricted in Sudan, due to what it described as “precautionary measures for security threats in order to preserve national security and the supreme interests of the country,” starting from Friday, July 25, 2025, until further notice.
Prior to the issuance of the decision, a number of citizens were harassed and threatened in a number of cities, including El Obeid, if they circulated news about what is happening in their areas within the WhatsApp groups in which they participate, under the pretext of preserving national security.
