Zalengi: Saleh Hiririn: On Monday, the Ministry of Culture and Information in Central Darfur announced the resumption of Zalengi Radio broadcasting after more than a year of interruption due to the destruction of its headquarters by Army bombing.
Broadcasting had been suspended after the radio station’s headquarters were destroyed by air strikes and unknown individuals stole the solar panels that supplied electricity to the state radio and television authority’s headquarters.
The Director General of the Ministry of Culture and Information in Central Darfur, Shayma Harun Ramila, said in a statement to “Rhino” that Radio Zalingei resumed broadcasting today after addressing the issues that led to its suspension. She expressed her hope that the radio station would be able to fulfill its media mission despite the obstacles it faces.
She noted that the radio station has played a major role in supporting security, stability, and social cohesion, and considered it an important link between official agencies and citizens.
