Army intelligence refuses to release farmer in Al Dalanj after intervention by local authorities

Al Dalanj: Saleh Hiririn – Security forces in Daleng refused to release citizen Salah Suleiman Jabr al-Dar, nicknamed “Mandiri,” after he spent seven days in detention without charge. He has not been released despite the intervention of local authorities in the city, without any logical explanation.

On the evening of Friday, June 26, 2025, military intelligence affiliated with the 54th Infantry Brigade in Dilling arrested Salah Suleiman Jabr al-Dar, known as “Mandiri,” from his home. His family reported that a delegation from the local administration in Dilling met with military intelligence on June 26. The intelligence service told them that these were simple procedures and that he would be released.

One of the local administrations revealed to Raino that the intelligence service is still delaying his release, a week after his arrest and the promise to release him.

The detainee’s family said that he is not involved in any political activity and is a 57-year-old farmer. The authorities did not give any reasons for his arrest, and since the day of his detention, they have not heard anything about him. The family held the military intelligence in Dilling and the command of the 54th Infantry Brigade fully responsible for the health and safety of their father and urged them to release him as soon as possible.

Activists and human rights defenders reported that Mandiri was arrested after speaking at the Turaath Mosque after Friday prayers about the living conditions in the city. One activist with the FIRST FACE NETWORK for human rights reported that dozens of citizens in South Kordofan are being arbitrarily detained for expressing their discontent and criticizing living conditions to local security authorities, adding that they oppose the arbitrary detention of innocent citizens who have suffered the ravages of war.
