Khartoum: Rhino – South Sudanese journalist and researcher ‘Atem Simon’ said on Monday that his country’s foreign ministry summoned the Sudanese ambassador in Juba, against the backdrop of the statements of the recent assistant army commander, ‘Yasser al-Atta’, in which he threatened the Republic of South Sudan, saying: ‘We will retaliate against the centers of the puppet souls in South Sudan, and the ruined souls.’
Simon wrote on his Facebook page on Monday: ‘South Sudan’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Sudanese ambassador to protest Yasser al-Atta’s recent statements regarding South Sudan.’
Atta was speaking at a funeral held after the death of an army officer on Sunday, when he threatened the countries of ‘the UAE, Chad and South Sudan,’ saying: ‘We will retaliate against them,’ he said, announcing that the airports of N’Djamena and Umm Jars in the Republic of Chad are legitimate targets for the Sudanese army.
