Rhino: Agencies – Barcelona have received a threat from Liverpool and Tottenham over one of the deals they have settled on for the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has decided to sign a free transfer to Barcelona in the summer of 2025.
The 29-year-old’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires at the end of this season.
The newspaper noted that Tah refused to renew his contract with Leverkusen more than once, in order to play under Barcelona coach Hans Flick, who previously supervised him in the German national team.
Tah has promised to move to Barcelona, but this remains only an intention, and Barcelona must first organize its financial affairs in line with the rules of Financial Fair Play.
Barcelona also needs to reorganize its defence, which currently includes 6 defenders, before signing Jonathan Tah.
Andreas Christensen and Erik Garcia’s contracts expire in 2026, while Ronald Araujo has a clause that allows him to leave during a certain period in July, for less than the agreed penalty clause.
Despite Tah’s willingness to wait for Barcelona to make a decision, the player continues to receive offers, most recently from Liverpool and Tottenham.
