Rhino: Agencies – Liverpool manager Arne Slotte has expressed his disappointment at missing out on the Champions League this season, saying that winning the League Cup will not change anything.
Liverpool will clash with Newcastle next Sunday in the League Cup final, with the Reds looking for their first title under Slotte, while the Maccabees are aiming for their first title in 56 years (the 1969 Inter-City Fairs Cup).
Sloat said of the match, according to the BBC: “We play games like this to win them, and that’s what we’re going to try to do.”
On the recent elimination from the Champions League quarterfinals against Paris Saint-Germain, the Dutchman said: “Whether we win or lose in the final, the disappointment of losing to PSG and being knocked out of the competition will remain.”
