El Geneina: Saleh Hiririn – West Darfur State Ministry of Health dispatched a medical team to Forbringa locality, 170 km south of El Geneina city, to investigate the facts and assess the health situation after reports of an alarming outbreak of measles among children.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health in West Darfur State, Dr. Abdulsalam Mustafa Saleh, confirmed to Rhino the appearance of measles cases among children in Forbringa locality, adding that at least 50 cases have been recorded.

He pointed out that they sent a medical team to investigate the facts, analyze and assess the health situation, and work to contain the disease. He indicated that the emergence of measles cases confirms that there is a flaw in the routine vaccination campaigns.

He added that routine immunization doses for children under the age of one year are available at the hospital in Furbringa.
