Rhino: Agencies – In recent days, the cities of East Darfur state have received large numbers of Sudanese families who fled from Khartoum state, where these trips witnessed great difficulties that lasted for more than two weeks.
Some of the displaced people explained to “Darfur24” website that they decided to flee because of the serious violations committed by militias linked to the Sudanese army, which targeted civilians in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Hussein Mohamedin, a displaced person from the Ad Babiker area east of Khartoum, confirmed that his family faced the risk of being raided by these militias, who carried out killings and arrests under the pretext of cooperating with the RSF, which made them feel unsafe in their homes.
Hussein noted that many families fleeing Khartoum find that their only option is to seek refuge in Libya, even though the journey is fraught with danger and extremely high costs. The displaced come from different parts of Sudan. They used to live in RSF-controlled neighborhoods, but as the conflict escalated, they had no choice but to flee to RSF-controlled states in Darfur and Kordofan.
He indicated that he arrived in East Darfur with his family of 7 people, after a 17-day journey due to the security situation on the road, in addition to the deterioration of the trucks they were using, which led to the depletion of all the food they had.
Um Hani Abdullah Jaber told “Darfur24” that she came with her family from Salha area, south of Omdurman, and passed through al-Foula in West Kordofan and then al-Daein in East Darfur, noting that she is on her way to Rahid al-Bardi area, west of Nyala city in South Darfur.
“She went to Rahid al-Burdi to stay with one of her neighbors in Omdurman who is currently living there, because she has difficulty seeking asylum abroad,” she said.
Khalifa Hamdan, a member of the emergency room in the eastern neighborhoods of al-Daein city, said there are about (6) cases of children and women who were separated from their families and fled Khartoum over the past month on their way to Darfur and Libya.
He added that dozens are in dire need of urgent medical and humanitarian assistance, calling on humanitarian organizations and philanthropic individuals to provide them with support.
