Civilians killed and wounded as army airstrikes hit Al Diein and Al Twisha in Darfur

El Diein: Rhino – On Tuesday, Sudanese army warplanes carried out air strikes on the market and hospital of Al-Diein city in East Darfur state, leaving a number of dead and wounded.
The Darfur Justice and Peace Initiative (DJPI) condemned the incident and stressed in a statement on Tuesday the need to immediately ban aviation in the Darfur region, as it is the main tool in killing innocent citizens and obstructing the work of relief and humanitarian aid to reach those in need, threatening the lives of millions with starvation.
The statement reads: ‘The army’s air force, hijacked by Islamist elements and its extremist currents, continued its campaign of targeting civilians in Darfur by bombing the city of El Diein in an attempt to block the efforts of Sudanese nationals and the international community to stop the war and achieve peace, deepening the wounds of citizens, who suffer from famine, cholera, diseases, floods and daily death.
Videos circulated on social media on Tuesday, showing the effects of the army’s bombing of the town of Tuisha in North Darfur, which caused deaths and injuries among civilians that are currently being counted.
