Kanabi Committee accuses the army and Sudan Shield of continuing violations in Gezira

Rhino: The Kanabi Central Committee accused the army and the forces working with it of continuing systematic violations against Kanabi residents, subjecting them to ethnic targeting and forced displacement with every military advance, stating that it monitors these violations with great concern and holds the responsible parties fully responsible for them.

The Kanabi Central Committee said in a statement that the army and the mobilizers arrested a number of Kanabi citizens while they were working on their farms in the Wawisti area, accusing them of belonging to the RSF without any legal evidence, stressing that these detainees are ordinary citizens, and they must be released immediately or take the legal procedures followed, and held the army fully responsible for any harm that may be inflicted on them. The center accused the “Sudan Shield” militias led by Abu Aqla Kikel of burning the village of Bara, which is located north of Al-Jazeera in Al-Kamilin locality, Al-Seriha unit, and displacing its residents on charges of cooperating with the RSF.

The Kanabi Central Committee announced its condemnation of these crimes, which it described as systematic, targeting Kanabi residents based on race and color, and carried out by the mobilizers and Sudan Shield militias, with the direct support or condonation of some official bodies.

It warned that the continuation of these violations will not only harm the people of Kanabi, but will push Sudan as a whole towards further division and conflict, threatening the cohesion of Sudanese society, especially in central Sudan, which is witnessing an accelerated deterioration in its security and stability due to these racist and exclusionary practices.

The continuation of these crimes without accountability will lead to catastrophic consequences for the country and will pave the way for further chaos and escalation from which no party will be spared.
