Rhino: Agencies – The decision issued by the Ministry of Finance in West Kordofan State to suspend the salaries of hundreds of civil service workers on charges of supporting the Rapid Support, sparked angry reactions and was rejected by the workers, who described the decision as politicized and flawed, and unrelated to the civil service laws.
on Monday, February 3, 2025, the Ministry of Finance and Manpower in West Kordofan State issued a decision to suspend the salaries of hundreds of civil servants on charges of loyalty and cooperation with the RSF, most of them from the southern localities of the state.
“The Ministry of Finance in West Kordofan, instead of paying the months of arrears that have not been paid since the outbreak of the war on April 15, 2023, is suspending our salaries on charges of collaborating with the RSF,” Mr. al-Toum Ahmed, a secondary school teacher, told the Sudan War Monitor.
Al-Toum added that most workers in the state’s various localities cannot travel to the new state capital of Nuhud to open bank accounts because they cannot afford the cost of a ticket, and most banks in many cities in the south of the state have stopped working by order of the Port Sudan government. He wondered: “The government has been unable to pay our salaries, and when it does, it pays us only 60 percent, which is not enough for more than three days.”
