Rhino: Agencies – Lebanese President-elect Joseph Aoun told parliament on Thursday that he will work to ensure that the right to bear arms is limited to the state, in his first speech to parliament minutes after his election.
Aoun was elected in a second round of voting after lawmakers from Hezbollah and its ally Amal cast their votes in his favor. His comments on the right to bear arms were seen as a partial reference to Hezbollah’s arsenal, which he did not comment on publicly when he was army commander.
