Khartoum: Rhino – The Port Sudan Public Prosecution revealed today, Sunday, that it has opened an investigation into the leakage of money intended for destruction. In a statement, it said, “The Economic Crimes Prosecution initiated criminal proceedings to investigate the circumstances of the leakage of part of the money intended for destruction ‘burning’, yesterday, Saturday.

The head of the Economic Crimes Prosecution, Amer Mohamed Ibrahim, inspected on Sunday morning the safe from which the money is suspected to have leaked at the Bank of Sudan. Amer directed him to take the necessary measures to complete the investigation and ensure its integrity and safety.

The Central Bank of Sudan decided to change the currency from the thousand-pound denomination, provided that the old denomination and the five hundred denominations will be deposited in bank accounts in banks, followed by a later declaration that it is not exonerated.

The replacement process is taking place in the states of Red Sea, Kassala, Gedaref, River Nile, Northern, Khartoum, Sennar, White Nile and the Blue Nile region.
