World Food Program says 3 of its staff killed in air strike in Sudan

Rhino: Agencies – The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) said on Friday that three of its staff members were killed in Sudan’s Blue Nile state on Thursday after an air strike on its compound there.

“Any loss of life in a humanitarian agency is unacceptable,” WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain said. “Humanitarian workers are not a target, nor should they ever be … I call for a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible.

A spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the secretary-general was outraged by the deaths of the three.
