Rhino: Agencies – An official at the Ministry of Education revealed that examination centers inside and outside Sudan recorded an absence rate of students from the first session of 30% of the total registered students who have seat numbers.
The Ministry of Education says that 343,644 male and female students are sitting for the secondary school certificate exams, which began on Saturday in 2,300 centers, including 59 centers outside Sudan, including 25 centers in Egypt, while the number of students outside the country is 46,553.
Hamid al-Surawi, director of the Farid Abu Hadid Examination Center in the Egyptian capital Cairo, told “Darfur24” that “the reports of control centers inside and outside Sudan indicate that 30% of registered students were absent from the first session exam.
He attributed this large absence to the economic conditions of their families due to the war, which affected their psychological and academic readiness to take the exams.
He pointed out that the Farid Abu Hadid Center in Cairo recorded the absence of 150 students, or 30% of the center’s total students, while the Huda Shaarawi Preparatory Center recorded the absence of 200 students, or 30%, confirming that the absence rates are equal in centers inside and outside Sudan.
He said that there is a tendency within the Ministry of Education to postpone the correction of the secondary school certificate exams until March of next year after the class of 2024 takes their exams, and then the papers of the two batches will be corrected together.
The war in Sudan has prevented students in nine states from sitting for exams completely and in three states partially, according to the Sudanese Teachers’ Committee. Chad has also apologized for holding exams in Abeche.
