Earlier on Monday, Iran confirmed that it will continue to keep Iranian “military advisors” in Syria to support government forces in the face of the recent escalation, where Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra) and allied factions are launching large-scale attacks. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said during a press conference: “The presence of Iranian advisors is not new, it has existed in the past and will continue in the future, based on the desire of the Syrian government.” “The presence of Iranian advisors is not new, it has existed in the past and will continue in the future, based on the wish of the Syrian government.
