Khartoum: Rhino – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Tuesday denounced what it described as “hasty and unsubstantiated accusations” made by the US Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello on his official account, saying that the RSF committed the “vast majority” of sexual abuse crimes.
The RSF emphasized in a statement on Tuesday that cases of violations in Sudan await the opening of transparent investigations by neutral and credible international parties and continued: “This is what our forces have been calling for, and it is not wise and just to obtain information in a unilateral manner, and through the organs of the coup government in Port Sudan.
“We have been following with regret the repeated contradictory and confused statements of the US envoy, and his disregard for the crimes of the terrorist Islamic Movement in killing hundreds of innocent people through daily raids by warplanes, in addition to arrests and arbitrary trials based on identity and region as part of an ongoing genocidal scenario targeting indigenous components in Sudan,” the statement said.
The statement added: “It is not strange for Mr. Perello, who failed to condemn the armed forces when they refused to attend the talks that he himself sponsored in Geneva, to identify with the agenda of the misleading and lying regime.”
“Mr. Perriello missed an opportunity for the United States to play a pivotal role in ending the war and supporting the political process leading to democratic civilian rule. The man’s experience with the Sudanese file revealed his unfamiliarity with the roots of the Sudanese crisis and who started the war. Mr. Perriello should know that our forces are proceeding from firm principles that do not deviate from them in order to restore legitimacy, end the control of the old state and the authoritarian coup regime, establish democratic civilian rule, and re-establish and rebuild the Sudanese state on new and just foundations.
