Iran and Europe meet for nuclear talks in Geneva on Friday

Rhino: Agencies – Iran will hold talks on its nuclear program with France, Britain and Germany on Friday in Geneva, a week after a resolution moved by the three powers at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) criticizing Tehran for not cooperating on the nuclear file.

Britain confirmed on Sunday that the talks would take place. “We remain committed to taking all diplomatic steps to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, including through the automatic return mechanism – Snapback – if necessary,” the British Foreign Office said.

The 2015 deal includes a “snapback” clause to reinstate UN sanctions if Tehran does not honor its nuclear commitments, allowing for the reinstatement of six UN resolutions frozen under the nuclear deal.

Japan’s Kyodo news agency was the first to announce on Sunday morning, citing several Iranian diplomatic sources, that Iran plans to hold nuclear talks with Britain, France, Germany and the European Union on Friday, Nov. 29, in Geneva.

Kyodo said the Iranian government, led by President Masoud Bazeshkian, is expected to seek a solution to the nuclear crisis with Britain, Germany, France and the EU before the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, Reuters reported.
