Local activists and witnesses said today, Saturday, that armed men wearing Sudanese army uniforms looted shops in the large market in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, local activists and witnesses said.A local activist confirmed to “Darfur24” the involvement of the army elements in looting the commercial field in the big market. He emphasized that the RSF, which reached the Azhari building and the Grand Mosque, did not penetrate to the shops in the west of the market.
The activist noted that the army members “broadcast the video clip that showed the shops after they were looted and vandalized, to implicate the RSF in a charge that they are innocent of.”
Eyewitnesses told “Darfur24” that “armed men wearing Sudanese army uniforms were the ones who looted the shops in the Grand Market, where they transported the loot on the backs of combat vehicles and taktaks to UNAMID Square in Naivasha Market.
The same witnesses accused the army of being involved in looting the property of citizens in the Ziyadiya, Khor Seyal and Al-Thawiya Girls neighborhoods, which are being sold in the UNAMID square in Naivasha market during the day by the same armed men.
In this context, a military source confirmed to “Darfur24” that the shops in the market were looted by the army itself.“The talk about the involvement of the RSF in looting them is completely false,” he said.He emphasized that the RSF forces that arrived at the Grand Mosque did not penetrate to the west of the Grand Market in El Fasher.
