Rhino: Agencies – Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique confirmed that his team is in a difficult situation during the recent period, due to their mediocre results in the Champions League.
“It is true that we are less efficient offensively in the Champions League, but we are also one of the lowest scoring teams in the competition,” Enrique said in a press conference on Friday.
“We need to improve our attacking efficiency and stay calm in the Champions League, but the issue will not be solved by pushing a button, signing a new deal or relying on one player, football is not managed that way,” he stressed.
“Last season we faced a lot of strong teams, and this season we are facing teams that are among the favorites to win the title, so this statistic is acceptable,” Enrique said.
Enrique emphasized, “I don’t have a shortage of players in the team, I am completely happy with the current squad, and we did try to recruit new players at the beginning of the season, but the clubs asked for large sums of money, and we will not risk paying these sums.”
“I accept the criticism, and the scoring issue is not only the responsibility of the strikers, it is a collective responsibility, and we have solutions for that, while also paying attention that the Champions League is a stronger competition than Ligue 1.”
