El Geneina: Saleh Haririn – Trade traffic between Chad and Sudan resumed through the Adré crossing after a halt that lasted for several days, due to disputes between Sudanese and Chadian traders.
A Sudanese trader who is active in the trade movement between Sudan and Chad had detained two Chadian citizens who have a relationship with a Chadian trader who refused to pay his dues of 190 million Sudanese pounds.
The incident caused border tensions that led to the suspension of commercial traffic through the Adré crossing, before the authorities in El Geneina handed over the kidnapped traders to the Chadian authorities.
An employee in West Darfur told Rhino that commercial traffic through the Adré crossing gradually began to flow after the handover of the detained traders. He noted that some of the commercial trucks that were stopped crossed into the Chadian city of Adré.
The cessation of commercial traffic through the city of Adré led to a slight increase in the prices of foodstuffs and some goods that come from neighboring countries through the crossing.
