Rhino: Agencies – European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said that the bloc condemns all attacks on UN missions, commenting on Israeli forces targeting soldiers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). “Such attacks against UN peacekeepers constitute a serious violation of international law and are totally unacceptable,” Borrell said in a statement issued on behalf of the EU published on Sunday evening. “These attacks must stop immediately. “The EU condemns all attacks against UN missions,” he added. “The EU expresses its particularly grave concern about the attacks by Israeli forces against UNIFIL forces, which resulted in the injury of several peacekeepers.” Israel has denied some UN accounts of incidents involving UNIFIL, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying the peacekeepers are providing “human shields” for the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group amid escalating hostilities.
