Rhino:Agencies – 6.5 million people in Sudan urgently need food to survive, US envoy to Sudan Tom Perriello said.
“Also, 25 million Sudanese need emergency humanitarian assistance,” he added in a tweet on the X platform.
He said the Sudan Humanitarian Aid Commission, which is under the command of the Sudanese military, allowed only 10 percent of humanitarian supplies to reach Port Sudan last month, and accused the authorities of blocking or delaying 90 percent of emergency relief items.
Sudan’s humanitarian aid commissioner, Mohamed Adam, at the behest of the military leadership, is refusing to allow international humanitarian aid to reach people in need throughout Sudan.Adam has held the position of commissioner since the era of ousted President Omar al-Bashir without interruption except during the years of Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok’s rule, when Abdel Fattah al-Burhan reinstated him to the post after the October 2021 coup.
