Rhino: German Chancellor Olaf Schulz said on Wednesday that it is necessary to start a political process in Lebanon and allow the country to be free from foreign influence, in a phone call with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Schulz expressed solidarity with the Lebanese people.
“It is essential to start a political process now,” a spokesperson for Schulz said in a statement. “The goals must be the security of the people of Israel and the sovereignty of Lebanon, without any foreign influence.
Germany will provide an additional 60 million euros ($64 million) to help the Lebanese people, the statement said.
