Rhino: Agencies – The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, said on Thursday that his office, his appointed expert and the independent international fact-finding mission established by the Human Rights Council are in Sudan to monitor, document and report on violations.

“For us, it is important to fight impunity, which has been a feature of the past in this situation, that there are accountability mechanisms, that the International Criminal Court expands its coverage of the situation, not just Darfur, but the whole situation, and that perpetrators are held accountable when we identify them,” Turk said in an interview with UN News published on Thursday.
