Rhino – Rapid Support Forces announced today, Saturday, that they shot down a (Bayraktar) – Turkish-made – in the (Al-Farshaya) area in South Kordofan state, saying that it was attempting to target civilians as part of a series of attacks carried out by the army during January, which claimed the lives of dozens of civilians.
In a statement today, the Rapid Support Forces affirmed their determination to protect civilians and “respond decisively to the attacks carried out by the Brotherhood’s army” targeting residential areas, public facilities, and infrastructure through airstrikes using drones.
The statement considered this a flagrant violation of international laws and norms. The statement called on the international community, regional organizations, and human rights bodies to condemn what it described as “systematic crimes against unarmed citizens” and to take immediate action to stop the repeated attacks on populated areas.
The statement continued: “The Rapid Support Forces will remain steadfast in their decisive approach to monitoring and field vigilance to protect cities and villages and ensure the safety of citizens. They will not allow any threat to the safety of the homeland or the lives of innocent people.”
