Port Sudan government officially recognizes the sale of relief in the markets

Khartoum: Rhino – The Port Sudan government acknowledged the existence of corruption in the receipt and distribution of relief and humanitarian aid to the states, and manipulation by the state delegates in Port Sudan.

In a letter addressed to the Minister of Local Government and member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, issued on October 6, Minister Osman Hussein Osman revealed violations and irregularities in the receipt and distribution of humanitarian aid that arrives in the country, including food and shelter that is distributed to the localities.

In his letter, the minister pointed out that the delegates are selling the relief on the market, acknowledging that this is a violation of the regulations, procedures and controls governing human rights and humanitarian work in force.

According to sources who spoke to Rhino, South Kordofan’s share of humanitarian relief and aid from abroad was manipulated and sold on the market, while some of it was transferred to other states, and the Federal Humanitarian Aid Commissioner received a share of it for her personal benefit. As for the rest of the quota, it was sold in El Obeid by order of the governor and paid for in cash, which was deposited in personal accounts belonging to the security committee and some ministers and employees of the governor’s government.

The sources denied that the SPLM blocked the passage of the aid, saying it was a pure fabrication, “so that the delegates of the Port Sudan government could steal it, in conjunction with their collaborators from the region.”
