The death toll from the army’s air raid on Al-Kouma rises to 65 civilians

Rhino: Agencies – The death toll from the air raid launched by the warplanes on the market in the city of Al-Kuma, 76 kilometers east of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, has risen to about 65 people.

“Radio Dabanga” quoted a community activist in Al-Kuma locality, ‘Saleh Haririn,’ that three people who were taken to Al-Diein hospital died of their injuries, while the bodies of three others were found on Saturday morning, who were inside a car.

Among the victims of the airstrike were two members of the family of the assistant commander of the army, member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber: his sister-in-law Ahmed Jaber and her daughter Tartil Ahmed Jaber.

He noted that there are unidentified victims who have not been identified, including children working in the “varnish” and others working in the “dardagas” inside the market.

More than 30 airstrikes have killed dozens of people since the outbreak of the war, and more than 45,000 families have been displaced from El Fasher, Darfur and Khartoum.

For its part, the Darfur Lawyers Association condemned the aerial bombardment that targeted the market of the city of Al-Kuma and a funeral marquee east of the market of Mellit city in North Darfur, which led to the death and injury of dozens of innocent civilians, including women and children, and the destruction and devastation of the two cities.

In a statement, the Commission reiterated its condemnation of the incident, describing it as a legally criminal act, and called for exerting all pressures on the army leadership to stop the repeated aerial bombardment of markets, civilian gathering places and residences in the two cities and throughout the country, and for the international community to quickly take the necessary measures to prevent and stop its recurrence and hold the army leadership responsible.
